Post-Surgical Care Instructions

Your well-being extends beyond the dental chair. We understand the importance of proper healing after any dental procedure or oral surgery, and that’s why we’ve curated comprehensive post-operative instructions for various treatments. Your comfort and health are our top priorities!

Please read the following instructions carefully for optimal healing after your surgical treatment. Following these guidelines can minimize discomfort and promote a smooth recovery process.

Bleeding:
It’s normal to experience slight oozing or periodic bleeding for up to 10 days after surgery.
Apply constant, firm pressure using the provided gauze for one hour. If bleeding persists, use a new gauze or a moistened tea bag for 1 ½ hours.
Avoid spitting or rinsing your mouth on the day of surgery.

Swelling:
Apply an ice bag to the operated side for 20 minutes on, 10 minutes off, for the first 2-3 hours to minimize swelling.
Swelling typically peaks two days after surgery and gradually subsides afterward.

Pain:
Discomfort is expected, and medication will be prescribed to manage it.
Take a full dose of pain medication every 3-4 hours for effective relief.
Rinse gently with warm salt water the morning after surgery and avoid smoking or drinking through a straw to prevent dry socket.

Diet:
Eat whatever you prefer, but opt for soft or liquid foods for comfort.
Maintain good dietary intake, even if limited to liquids.

Nausea:
Small sips of tea, 7Up, or Ginger Ale may help alleviate nausea during the initial postoperative period.
